Here I am, working on my campaign about change, and I'm with 2 web designers changing the website up to make it more responsive to voters. It's an exciting time.
Some evenings are just busier than others. Tonight, I had 5 different meetings to attend, but could only make 2. The first one was honoring State Sen. Heather Steans for her work with the Labor Ready issue that lead to the passage of a law forbidding day labor going up next to schools. I'm all for helping people find work, but this site wasn't zoned for this particular business and there were other more suitable sites readily available. The Uptown Chicago Commission through the work of Cindi Anderson also worked with the area residents in filing a lawsuit with the City to stop this as well.
My next meeting was with Belmont Harbor Neighbors. They are a great group of very active residents in the Lakeview area. They're located on the southern end of the 46th Ward. I'll be the guest presenter at their meeting next month where I'll discuss advanced directives.
